- Suffering from hereditary diseases like diabetes, blood pressure, osteoarthritis etc. no longer a part of our destiny
- Special tailor-made nutrition plans based on an individual’s history, family history, genetic structure, biomarkers, body metabolism and metabolites, lifestyle and environmental factors.
Chandigarh, September 14, 2011 Nutrition Research based on Genomics now indicates that some of the hereditary diseases can be prevented, delayed or to some extent cured through specially modified diet and lifestyle plans. These plans are based on an individual’s history, family history, genetic structure, biomarkers, body metabolism and metabolites, lifestyle and environmental factors. This was stated by Mr. Maneet Singh, Managing Director of ADI, a Healthcare Research company headquartered in Mohali with clientele in Europe and USA, while addressing over 50 members and guests of Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik at Hotel Sip n Dine yesterday night.
Explaining the results of the new research, Mr. Maneet Singh said, “Till now, most of us believed that certain diseases which were inherent in our family like diabetes, coronary disease, blood pressure, osteoarthritis, certain cancers etc. were just part of our destiny and the chances of us suffering from them at some stage of our lives were very high. However, this is not true anymore. Today, through Nutrition Research, we are able to identify the effect the nutrients in the food you take have on the function and expression of the genes in your body. We examine symptoms, proteins, genes, enzymes, metabolites etc that have already been established as markers for disease, called bio-markers, and we then test how common level of expression in genes can be encouraged or discouraged through the intervention of particular nutrients to either stop a disease, slow it down or even reverse its impact on your body.”
